IPL 2025, SRH vs MI Highlights: Boult and Chahar’s fiery spell (6/38) and Rohit Sharma’s composed fifty propel Mumbai Indians into the top four.

Brief Scores: MI 146/3 (Rohit Sharma 70, Suryakumar Yadav 40, Jaydev Unadkat 1/25) beat SRH 143/8 (Heinrich Klassen 71, Abhinav Manohar 43, Trent Boult 4/26) by seven wickets.
Asked to bat first in the 41st encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced early trouble at 13/4 in 4.1 overs. But the 99-run sixth wicket stand between Heinrich Klassen (71) and Abhinav Manohar (43) helped them to post 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Mumbai made an aggressive start in the low run-chase. Rohit Sharma (70) kept improving from his previous knocks. The 53-run second wicket stand between him and Suryakumar Yadav (40*) was key for their clinical chase in just 15.4 overs. It’s also their fourth successive victory of the edition.
Highlights from SRH vs MI game, IPL 2025
Boult-Chahar put disk brakes SRH top order
It was vital for both Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar to contribute with the new ball for the five-time champions. On a surface where the ball was moving, as Manohar revealed, Mumbai made the perfect use of the new ball.
Boult drew the first blood with the wicket of Travis Head for a four-ball duck. The southpaw cleared his front leg to skew it in the air to the deep backward point region.
Chahar came to the party with Ishan Kishan’s controversial dismissal. The Patna-born edged the leg-sided ball and started to walk off even before the umpire raised his finger. Later, the replays confirmed that he hadn’t even got a feather on it.
In the fourth over, Boult foxed Abhishek Sharma with a slower delivery. The batter went for the drive but ballooned it into the hands of the point fielder. A chip of the ball to the mid-on fielder from Nitish Reddy provided Chahar his second wicket of the evening.
Chahar finished with an excellent figure of 2/12 in his four overs. Meanwhile, the former New Zealand pacer ended with 4/26. Their planning against the Sunrisers batters was as good as it was a couple of evenings ago at the Wankhede Stadium.

Heinrich Klassen 71 gave SRH Hope
On the eighth anniversary of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s unwanted record of 49 runs. Hyderabad gave them joy at 35/5. But Heinrich Klassen had other plans in the evening. Coming into the crease in the fourth over, the right-handed batter had enough time to get set in the middle.
Klassen took his time with 11 runs in 16 balls before unleashing his beast mode against Vignesh Puthur. He drilled the spinner over deep mid-wicket for a six before sweeping the wide delivery over extra cover for a boundary. The Pretoria-born clubbed the Mumbai captain, Hardik Pandya, for three boundaries to celebrate his first fifty of the IPL 2025.
For the entire season, the veteran didn’t look to be in the best form from the start of the season. But this knock will give a boost to his confidence in a struggling season for the franchise.

Rohit Sharma’s return among runs a huge positive for MI
At the start of the season, Rohit Sharma looked to be only playing the aggressive shots around the park. But for the last few games, he has started to take some time in the middle.
Against the Chennai Super Kings, he gained confidence with an unbeaten knock of 76 runs. And as all of the good batters do, he channelled it into another clinical knock. The Nagpur-born pulled Jaydev Unadkat over deep mid-wicket for a six.
He smacked the left-arm pacer over deep extra cover for the same result before slogging Zeeshan Ansari over wide long-on for another six. Runs started to come fast for the 2020 champions as the former MI captain celebrated his 45th fifty of the league.
Sharma finished with 70 runs in 45 balls, thanks to eight boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 152.17.
Way Forward
With the sixth defeat in eight encounters, Sunrisers’ journey in the 2025 season is nearly over. Only something dramatic can turn the table for the 2016 champions. They will meet the Chennai Super Kings on April 25 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.
In an odd year, Mumbai has found momentum in the second half of the season. It’s a sign of something potentially special for the franchise and the fans. They have now moved up to the third position in the points table with a strong net run rate of +0.673.
Hardik Pandya’s army will lock horns with the Lucknow Super Giants in the afternoon home fixture on April 27, 2025.
