One such player who has already made a mark in IPL 2025 is Digvesh Rathi. He is a right-arm leg-spinner and one of the key bowlers in LSG’s lineup. Long hair, a steady run-up, and a lot of aggression perfectly define this young lad.
Digvesh Rathi: Leading Delhi Superstarz’s bowling charge in DPL 2024
Delhi and District Cricket Association hosted the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) in 2024. Digvesh was picked by Delhi Superstarz, a team owned by Shikhar Dhawan. He was a rookie bowler who hadn’t played much Board cricket prior to this. However, the DPL provided the right platform, and young Rathi made full use of the opportunities that came his way.
Ayush Badoni was the skipper of the team and gave Rathi full leverage to toss the ball up and take wickets. In fact, the latter ended up being the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. His stats were quite modest, but perhaps it was his character that impressed the scouts the most. His ‘Dabangg’ attitude and witty bowling made him stand out.
Just like his idol Sunil Narine, he too likes to hide the ball before releasing it! And like Narine, he has plenty of variations in his kitty. Orthodox or wrong’un — you name it, he bowls it! With his googlies, flippers, and leg-breaks, he has mastered the art of deceiving the batters.

Entering big league: SMAT debut
With a stellar show in DPL 2024, selectors couldn’t ignore Digvesh for long. He was picked for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 and was even given a couple of chances. His bowling figures against Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur read 4-1-11-1 and 3-1-8-2, respectively. Clearly, he proved to be economical in both games, but he wasn’t thrown into the deeper end of the pool, as both chances came against plate teams.

LSG’s eye for talent, picking young and inexperienced Rathi for INR 30 Lakhs
Lucknow Super Giants truly have an eye for talent. Previously, they groomed Ayush Badoni, and now, they are backing Digvesh Rathi. In four matches so far, he has been the clutch in LSG’s bowling lineup. On nights when other bowlers went expensive, he delivered by bowling tight middle overs.
What makes him different is his confidence. With just a handful of domestic matches, he doesn’t let his inexperience get in the way. No matter if it’s Priyansh Arya or Naman Dhir on the other end, the hunger and the fire remain the same.
