IPL 2025, PBKS vs CSK, Hits & Flops: Priyansh Arya dazzles the stage with 103; Chennai lose 4th game

IPL 2025, PBKS vs CSK, Highlights: Priyansh Arya’s maiden IPL century powers Punjab Kings to a comfortable win. CSK suffer their fourth loss of the season. Top hits & flops from the game.

Brief scores: PBKS- 219/6 (Priyansh Arya 103, Shashank Singh 52, Khaleel Ahmed 2/45) beat CSK– 201/5 (Devon Conway 69, Shivam Dube 42, Lockie Ferguson 2/40) by 18 runs

Star of the night- Priyansh Arya was right on money when he smashed a six on the very first ball. His dominant knock earned his side crucial points but made things worse for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In the second innings, Devon Conway and Shivam Dube did try to chase the massive score of 221, but the finishers failed to carry that momentum.

Priyansh Arya makes waves with his batting prowess
PBKS looks like a completely different unit this season, as compared to all the previous editions. A lot of credit for that goes to Priyansh Arya, on whom the franchise has invested wisely. Playing his fourth IPL match today, the 24-year-old batsman from Delhi looked quite lethal. Anything that was marginally short was brutally punished by his willow. Moreover, the way he was taking Khaleel Ahmed, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin was quite impressive. Tonight’s ton will give him truckloads of confidence, as he was operating at a strike rate of 245.24.

Moreover, apart from his stats, what impressed the most was the quality of his shots. He wasn’t playing the unconventional ramp shots, but pure cricketing strokes. His clean stroke play was a treat to eyes and definitely a nightmare for CSK’s bowling unit!

Flops from the PBKS vs CSK game

CSK’s poor fielding gave the opposition an edge
In a highly competitive tournament like IPL, you cannot expect a team to field poorly and drop sitters on multiple occasions. But that was CSK’s story in today’s clash as they performed below par as a fielding unit. Not just one or two, they dropped roughly 6-7 catches, giving PBKS freebies on multiple occasions. Had they converted those into dismissals, their chase would’ve been much easier. Kudos to PBKS’ batsmen as they made sure that each chance offered to them was well converted.

Despite a few positives in batting, CSK continue to falter in the chase
A team that used to finish off games in style is having major trouble in the same arena this season. CSK, with a star-studded batting lineup up is finding it hard to chase down the targets as each game passes. Tonight, however, impact player Shivam Dube and New Zealand’s opener Devon Conway did create a chance, but the team couldn’t cross the last hurdle. Earlier, they were overly dependent on MS Dhoni, and now that he is not contributing much, no other player is stepping up, and that is one of the reasons why the team is failing to chase. Another reason for that is how CSK bowled three 20+ runs overs, but their batters didn’t score 20+ runs in any over.

Conclusion
CSK’s batting lineup was already giving them a headache, but after today’s match, they should be concerned about their fielding as well. They didn’t deserve to win today’s game as they were outplayed. For future games, they need to be more mindful as they cannot afford to commit such blunders regularly.

As far as PBKS is concerned, they seem to be on the right track as they are skyrocketing towards victories in almost all the matches.

Gaikwad was finally finding his groove and connecting with the fans—until this injury happened. The time is ripe now for CSK to build more future leaders, to create not only brand value but also stronger fan connections, especially since Dhoni won’t be playing for CSK for much longer.Read More: IPL 2025, PBKS vs CSK, Hits & Flops: Priyansh Arya dazzles the stage with 103; Chennai lose 4th … […]
