The T20 World Cup 2026 begins on February 7 with India launching their campaign against United States of America (USA) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It’s one of the five venues hosting the India leg of the competition. The four other venues are Eden Gardens (Kolkata), MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), and Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi).
Among the 20 participating teams for this edition, Virat Kohli remains the leading run-getter of the T20 World Cup. The former captain, who retired from T20Is after winning the title in 2024, recorded 1292 runs in 33 innings. Among the active players, Jos Buttler leads the chart with 1013 runs in 34 innings.

India have earned overall 21 victories in 29 T20I clashes at these five venues, with a win-loss ratio of 2.625. In terms of their performance in each of these venues, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens remains the most successful one. They have featured in eight T20Is and earned seven victories at this ground, with the last defeat coming in 2011 against England.
In terms of runs in all of these five venues, Rohit Sharma leads the chart. The former captain notched up 4649 T20 runs in 167 innings at an average of 32.06. He celebrated 30 half-centuries and two centuries in this process at a blistering strike rate of 137.13.
In terms of the highest T20 run-getters at the Indian venues, Rohit leads the chart at the Wankhede Stadium with 2669 runs. Shubman Gill has an excellent T20 average of 58.31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Overall, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai remains the best ground for batting. It has the best T20 average of 25.15 among the five Indian venues of the T20 World Cup 2026. It also has the second-best T20 strike rate of 131.85 after Ahmedabad’s 136.81. Moreover, the batters have celebrated their centuries 21 times in Mumbai, which remains the highest among these five grounds.
As expected, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai remains a tough ground for batters, with a T20 strike rate of 123.48 and an average of 23.53. Only eight T20 centuries have come in 1888 innings at this venue.

The T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals will be held in Kolkata and Mumbai. If Pakistan qualify, the first semifinal will be shifted to Colombo. The final will take place on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If Pakistan make the final then the fixture will move to Colombo.
