The group stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 ends with India, West Indies, South Africa, and Zimbabwe topping their respective groups. They are placed in Group 1 for the Super 8 fixtures. Meanwhile, all the runners-up from the group-stage games, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, will meet each other in the Group 2 Super 8 clashes.

Among the 40 group stage clashes, 14 matches took place in Sri Lanka, while the remaining 26 occurred in India. And there was a significant difference in the batting and bowling departments in both countries.

Batters enjoy better average and strike rate in India during T20 WC 2026
In India, the batters have enjoyed a batter batting strike rate of 137.02 compared to 132 in Sri Lanka in this T20 WC 2026. It reflects that the Indian pitches have been more batting-friendly.

In India, the powerplay bowling economy of most teams has crossed eight, and it has remained the same in the middle overs. Once it has gone to the death overs, it has crossed the 10-run economy mark.

The first Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 will be between New Zealand and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India, meanwhile, will face the Proteas in their first Super 8 meeting on February 22 in Ahmedabad.
