The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed a thrilling exhibition of batting brilliance, with several stars lighting up the tournament. Among them, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Nicholas Pooran stood out for their consistency, flair, and impact. Each batter not only delivered standout individual performances but also played critical roles in shaping the fortunes of their respective franchises, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants.

Shubman Gill redefined leadership and batting finesse in IPL 2025. Leading the Gujarat Titans after a disappointing 2024 season, Gill’s resurgence was a compelling narrative, both as a captain and a top-order anchor. Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, dazzled for Mumbai Indians with a record-breaking streak of consistent scores, guiding MI to the playoffs. Nicholas Pooran started with explosive form for LSG, becoming one of the most feared batters in the first half of the tournament, before his performances tapered off in the latter stages.

Here are the three impactful batters in IPL 2025:

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians)
Suryakumar Yadav’s 2025 IPL season for Mumbai Indians (MI) was nothing short of extraordinary. As one of the most impactful batters of the tournament, Suryakumar’s performances were pivotal in MI’s resurgence and their march to the playoffs.

Scoring 717 runs across 15 matches, he finished as the second-highest run-getter of the season, just behind Sai Sudharsan. What stood out was his historic feat, becoming the first player in T20 history to register 15 scores of 25 or more in a single tournament.

Early in the season, he hammered 48 off 28 balls against Gujarat Titans with a strike rate of 171.43, 27 off just 9 balls against KKR, and a match-winning 67 off 39 balls against LSG.

His purple patch continued with powerful knocks like 68 off 30 against CSK, 40 off 19 versus SRH, and an unbeaten 48 off 23 against RR. These weren’t just flashy innings, but they came in crucial matches where MI needed a strong middle-order push.

    Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)
Shubman Gill’s campaign with the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was a showcase of elite batting, leadership maturity, and resilience. As a skipper, Gill led from the front, powering GT to the playoffs and establishing himself as one of the tournament’s most impactful batters.

After a challenging 2024 season where GT finished eighth, Gill’s transformation as both leader and player was a defining story of IPL 2025. Under his captaincy, GT bounced back impressively, securing a playoff berth with nine wins from 14 league matches.

Among his standout innings, Gill’s unbeaten 93* against the Delhi Capitals showcased his ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when needed. Earlier in the season, he played a pivotal role with a 90-run knock off 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders, setting a strong foundation for his team’s victory. His 84-run innings against Rajasthan Royals further highlighted his consistency and flair at the top of the order.

Gill’s consistency at the top of the order was crucial for GT’s success. Across 15 matches, he amassed 650 runs at an average of 50 and a striking strike rate of 155.87. His run tally included six half-centuries, underlining his ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when needed. Gill’s aggressive yet controlled approach made him a constant threat to opposition bowlers.

      Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants)
Nicholas Pooran entered IPL 2025 as a vital cog in the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) batting order — and for much of the first half of the season, he more than lived up to the billing. The explosive left-hander lit up the tournament with blistering cameos and match-turning knocks, making him one of the most impactful batters in the league’s opening phase. However, his form tapered off as the tournament progressed, leaving LSG yearning for the firepower he displayed earlier.

Pooran began his campaign with an emphatic statement, a belligerent 75 off just 30 balls against Delhi Capitals (strike rate: 250), followed by an even more electrifying 70 off 26 balls (strike rate: 269.23) against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

His form continued against Punjab Kings with a composed 44 off 30 balls at a strike rate of 146.67. The standout, however, came against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he smashed an unbeaten 87 off 36 balls at a staggering strike rate of 241.67, a knock that was not just quickfire but also match-defining.

However, the second half of the tournament told a different story. In his last seven outings, Pooran struggled to replicate his earlier form. He managed only one notable contribution, a 56 off 27 balls against Gujarat Titans with a strike rate of 207.41. In the rest of the games, he couldn’t cross 30.

Despite the inconsistency in the latter half, Pooran’s overall numbers still painted the picture of a dangerous batter. His season strike rate remained among the highest in IPL 2025, and he finished with 524 runs in 14 innings, cementing his role as a high-impact player when on song.
