Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) were up against each other at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on May 14 in the 60th game of IPL 2022. RCB sat at 14 points before the commencement of this game while PBKS were at 10 points.
These two franchises have faced each other 30 times in IPL history prior to Friday’s game; Punjab has a slight upper hand over RCB as the former have won 16 games out of those 30, whereas RCB have won 13 games, and one game was abandoned.

Punjab Kings register thumping win over Bangalore
As RCB put Punjab in to bat first, the latter’s openers Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan provided a quickfire start in the powerplay. The opening duo amassed 60 runs in just the first five overs of the innings. Due to the storming knock of Bairstow and a phenomenal finishing act by Liam Livingstone, Punjab Kings put up a huge total of 209 runs on the board.
While chasing a huge total of 210 runs, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis kicked off the innings in an attacking manner, however, their quick demise put RCB in trouble. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar tried to bail out their side after the initial jolts, but with their dismissal RCB went downhill quickly to register only 155 runs in 20 overs after losing nine wickets. Thus Punjab defeated RCB by a huge margin of 54 runs.

He undertook a hard-hitting approach right from the first over of the innings only. The 32-year-old batter lofted a straight six off the bowling of Glenn Maxwell. Bairstow clubbed two more towering sixes and two fours in the next over bowled by pacer Josh Hazlewood. The right-hander targeted the short boundary on mid-wicket consistently.
Bairstow targeted pacer Mohammed Siraj by cracking three huge sixes and one four to gather 23 runs in an over. The England batter completed his fifty in just 21 deliveries, which is his fastest IPL fifty. He smacked powerful strokes using his bottom-hand to good effect throughout his knock.
