England vs India, T20Is 2022, Records: Suryakumar Yadav becomes fifth player for India to score a century in T20Is.
The T20 international series between two cricketing giants, India and England, concluded on Sunday with a lot of fireworks from both sides. In the last T20I match of the series, England notched up their highest total against India in T20 internationals, whereas India’s new batting sensation and experienced T20 batter, Suryakumar Yadav notched up a breath-taking century.
India bagged the series by winning the first two games, but the hosts avoided a whitewash by winning the last game by 17 runs.
Let’s scan some records broken in England vs India, T20I Series:
1 - India are the first side to bowl out England for less than 150 in two consecutive T20 Internationals in the first two T20I matches of the series.
2 - Rohit Sharma completed 1,000 runs in T20Is as a captain in just 29 innings in the first T20 match of the series, which made him the second-fastest player to amass 1,000 runs as captain after Pakistan batter Babar Azam, who achieved the milestone in just 26 innings while captaining his side.
1 - Suryakumar Yadav scored his maiden century in T20Is, which is his first century in international cricket across formats.
5 - Suryakumar Yadav became the fifth India player to smash a T20I ton after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda.
9 - India players have now struck nine T20I centuries, most for any side in international cricket. They surpassed New Zealand whose players have smashed eight centuries in T20Is. For India Rohit Sharma has scored four T20I centuries, KL Rahul has scored two, Suresh Raina has scored one, Deepak Hooda has scored one and Suryakumar Yadav has scored one ton.
2 - Suryakumar Yadav scored 117 runs in the third T20I match of the series, which is the second-highest individual score by an India player in T20Is after Rohit Sharma’s 118 against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.
1 - Suryakumar Yadav’s 117 is the highest innings in T20Is at number 4 or lower in a chase.
2 – Surya’s 117 was also the second-highest score in T20Is at number 4 or lower after Belgium’s Shaheryar Butt, who slammed an unbeaten knock of 125 runs against the Czech Republic in 2020.
1 - Suryakumar Yadav’s 117 is the highest innings by an India player in a chase in T20I cricket. The previous record-holder was KL Rahul who scored 110 at Lauderhill against West Indies in 2016.
1 - It was also the highest T20I score by an India player outside home. The previous record-holder was KL Rahul who scored an unbeaten knock of 110 against West Indies at Lauderhill in 2016. Coincidentally, Rahul’s knock also went in vain like Yadav’s ton against England, as India lost the match against West Indies by only one run.
Another India player who came close to breaking Rahul’s record recently was Deepak Hooda, who scored 104 against Ireland in Dublin.
2 - Former India captain Virat Kohli became the second-most capped player (99 matches) for India in Men's T20Is and got past MS Dhoni (98 matches); only current India skipper Rohit Sharma (128 matches) has played more T20I matches than Kohli among India players.

1 - Rohit Sharma got past Suzie Bates (126) by playing his 127th T20I match at Edgbaston in Birmingham against England in combined Men’s and Women’s T20I cricket. Rohit has now played 128 matches in his T20I career.
2 - Suryakumar Yadav became only the second India player to make his international debut after the age of 30 and went on to score a hundred after Vijay Hazare who made his debut for India in 1946 at the age of 31 and went on to score a Test century against Australia in their den.
The special thing about Hazare is that he smashed twin centuries in that Test at Adelaide Oval - 116 and 145.
10 - England have now won 10 T20Is against India and became the most successful side against India in T20Is by surpassing Australia and New Zealand who have won nine T20I games each against India.
11 - India became the second-most successful T20I side against England by winning 11 T20I matches; only West Indies (14) have won more T20I matches against England.
4 – India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, won their fourth consecutive T20I series by defeating England 2-1 in this series. The first three series wins came against New Zealand (3-0), West Indies (3-0) and Sri Lanka (3-0).
1 - India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja notched up his highest T20I score - 46* against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham in the second T20I match of the series. His previous highest was an unbeaten knock of 45 runs against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala in 2022.
2 - England pacer Richard Gleeson recorded bowling figures of 3/15 against India at Birmingham in the second T20I match of the series on his debut, which are the second-best bowling figures for any England player in T20 internationals.
The best bowling figures on T20I debut for any England player are 4/24 by Jon Lewis against Australia at Southampton in 2005.
