IPL 2025, DC vs SRH, Hits & Flops: Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav’s combined 8-57 powers Delhi Capitals to victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. DC climb to second place in the points table.

Brief Scores: SRH164 (Aniket Verma 74, Heinrich Klaasen 32, Mitchell Starc 5/35) lost to DC 166/3 (Faf du Plessis 50, Jake Fraser-McGurk 38, Zeeshan Ansari 3/42) by 7 wickets.
Delhi Capitals’ (DC) stellar performance with the ball and exceptional fielding in the first innings made things really difficult for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The athleticism displayed by the home team during fielding gave them the edge. However, Aniket Verma, SRH’s lone warrior, showcased some serious power-hitting with the bat.
Hits from SRH vs DC game
Mitchell Starc rips through SRH top order
The highly experienced Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has started his IPL 2025 campaign with a bang. He has been dismantling opponents’ top order with his fiery deliveries.
In the game between DC and SRH, when everyone expected fireworks from the powerhouse Orange Army, Starc stunned the crowd with a quality spell of 5/35. Interestingly, his first three wickets came in the powerplay, dismissing Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Reddy. He was in the driver’s seat from the very beginning.
Notably, in DC’s previous match against LSG, Starc took three crucial wickets. With his current form, he is undoubtedly a strong contender for this year’s Purple Cap.

Aniket Verma continues to impressÂ
Just when everyone thought SRH’s batting had collapsed, Aniket Verma, the young and inexperienced player from Madhya Pradesh, came to his side’s rescue. Before his arrival, Hyderabad were struggling, losing wickets in quick succession. But kudos to this young lad, he stitched a decent partnership with Heinrich Klaasen.
The confidence with which he was smacking bowlers all over the park was commendable. However, just when he looked unstoppable, an exceptional catch by Jake Fraser-McGurk restricted the young batter to 74 off 41 balls. Verma is certainly a player to watch out for.

Flops from SRH vs DC game
Lack of intent by SRH’s bowlers
There was no intent from the SRH bowlers in the game against DC, which is very unlike them. Senior bowlers like Mohammad Shami, Pat Cummins, and Harshal Patel needed to step up, but they all went wicketless. From an outsider’s perspective, the team appear to be lacking clarity and a definite plan. Twice, opponents have chased down targets in less than 17 overs against them.
Another indication of their lack of clarity is the change in opening bowling partners—earlier, Simarjeet Singh opened with Shami, but now Abhishek Sharma has taken over the role. Against DC as well, Mudler was introduced late into the attack, further highlighting the confusion in SRH’s dugout. The team needs better strategies if they want to reach the business end of the league.
Way forwardÂ
DC now stand at number two, while SRH have dropped to the seventh spot. The former need to continue their good work, but the latter must rethink their approach. Their all-out, all-aggressive strategy is failing miserably.Â

In awe watching @faf1307. One of my favourite cricketers. Hitting cleanly, converting possible singles into twos, catching everything. Big inspiration for young players watching this game.

Two successive defeats have exposed major chinks in batting and bowling last year’s runner up SRH. IPL2025 opening up dramatically with marquee teams MI and CSK also stumbling in the initial phase
