IPL 2025, SRH vs GT, Highlights: Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant 4/17 dismantles SRH as Gujarat Titans climb to second place. Sunrisers Hyderabad suffer their fourth straight loss of the season. Hits & Flops from the game.

Brief scores: SRH 152/8 (Nitish Kumar Reddy 31, Mohammed Siraj 4/17) lost to GT 153/3 (Shubman Gill 61 not out, Mohammed Shami 2/28) by 7 wickets.
Gujarat Titans (GT) produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to hand Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) their fourth straight defeat in IPL 2025 at Hyderabad on Sunday. Gujarat bowled well to restrict Hyderabad to a below-par 152/8 before overhauling the target with 7 wickets in hand and 20 balls to spare. Gujarat skipper Gill led from the front with an unbeaten 61 to wrap up the chase.
Hits from SRH vs GT game
Siraj, Krishna continue to leave impact, Sai Kishore shines
Mohammed Siraj has been brilliant with the new ball this IPL season. Once again, he was a revelation in the powerplay, dismissing the dangerous GT openers in the first six overs. After being smacked for two fours by Travis Head in the first over, Siraj came back strongly to dismiss him on the last ball. He then bowled with tight line and length in his next two overs. In his third over of the powerplay, Siraj delivered two straight dots before forcing Abhishek Sharma to mistime a hit in the inner circle. That was wicket No. 100 for Siraj in the IPL.
There was no respite for SRH as Prasidh Krishna is bowling the best he ever has in any IPL season so far. He’s hitting hard lengths and targeting the stumps, making it difficult for batters to rotate the strike or find boundaries in the middle overs. Krishna’s extra pace is working to his advantage, as he rushed Ishan Kishan into playing a shot straight to the fine leg fielder.
Another GT bowler worth mentioning is Sai Kishore, who is leaving quite an impact this season ahead of the veteran Rashid Khan. Kishore took two vital wickets—Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen—to ensure SRH’s middle-order batters didn’t run away with a big total. He first dismissed Klaasen, bowled with a quicker one to break a fifty-run stand, and then took the wicket of Reddy to break the backbone of the SRH batting line-up.

Washington shines at No 4; Gill makes timely fifty
Washington Sundar was playing his first match of the season, and his performance at No. 4 was a big plus for Gujarat. The team had tried a few options at No. 4, but none better than Sundar, who came out all guns blazing and raced to a 29-ball 49. His stroke-making was on point as he didn’t hesitate to play in the air even when the fields were spread, and he rotated the strike brilliantly as well. Sundar’s performance at No. 4 deepens Gujarat’s batting line-up, with the likes of Rahul Tewatia and M. Shahrukh Khan to follow.
Besides, Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock, ensuring he was there till the end to finish off a tricky chase. He was getting out in the 30s earlier this season, but this time around, Gill ensured he was not only there till the end but also scored a vital fifty that would give a big boost to his confidence. This knock might open the floodgates for Gill to go for even bigger scores and put his team in the driver’s seat.
Flops from SRH vs GT game
SRH’s batting collapse again
SRH batters were supposed to rule this IPL season. But apart from the first match, they have flattered to deceive. They’ve been unable to live up to the big expectations they had set last season, where they were regularly setting totals above 200 with ease. The opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have not fired in unison and haven’t provided the good starts expected of them. SRH No. 3 Ishan Kishan started the season with a ton but has since been unable to get starts.
The top-order collapse has put pressure on the middle-order batters, who have been unable to turn the momentum around due to poor starts—leading to frequent batting collapses. It was no different in the clash against GT, resulting in a fourth straight loss for the team.

The way forward
The win has helped Gujarat find a No. 4 in Sundar, who can control the game with his stroke-making and also rotate the strike brilliantly. It is the third straight win for Gujarat, who are now placed second in the points table. They’ll now face Rajasthan Royals on April 9.
SRH have to quickly regroup, as their chances of making it to the play-offs have gone south with their fourth straight loss. They are placed last in the points table and face Punjab Kings on April 12 in their next game.
Top Twitter/X Reactions from SRH vs GT, Hyderabad, IPL 2025
SRH’s sorry situation continues. Batting bombed again getting about 50 runs fewer than expected. This despite Rashid Khan going wicketless again. Then, after picking up two cheap wickets, SRH’s bowling fell below par as Gill & Sundar launched calculated attack. Fine win for GT!

Siraj is such a spirited hardworking cricketer and it's good to see that being rewarded.

Washington Sundar looked like he was batting on a different pitch. Not a first-choice player for his side, but to walk in and play a flawless knock while others struggled—it was a remarkable effort.

Some of us have been crying out for @Sundarwashi5 to get a regular spot. He is showing us what a versatile and valuable player he can be.
