IPL 2025, MI vs GT, Highlights: Bumrah-Boult’s brilliant death overs (3/18) go in vain as Gujarat clinch last-ball thriller to go top of the table.

Brief scores: Mumbai Indians: 155/8 (Will Jacks 53, Sai Kishore 2/34) lost to Gujarat Titans:132/6 (Shubhman Gill 43, Jasprit Bumrah 2/19, Trent Boult 2/22) by 3 wickets (DLS method)
In a high-voltage clash filled with twists and turns, Gujarat Titans held their nerve to chase down a revised target (147 runs) in a rain-affected thriller against Mumbai Indians. Despite strong bowling spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, GT clinched victory in the final over, climbing to the top of the points table of IPL 2025.
Spin Twins – Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan Put the Brakes on MI’s Innings
Gujarat’s fielding was below par with multiple dropped chances, but the spin duo of R Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan turned the tide. Bowling in tandem, the pair delivered eight tight overs, conceding just 55 runs and picking up three crucial wickets. Sai dismissed both Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, while Rashid got the big wicket of the well-set Will Jacks.
Mumbai were cruising at the halfway mark, but between overs 10 to 13, GT’s spinners choked the scoring. Sai made up for a costly drop earlier by sending back Surya, while Rashid mixed his variations smartly to keep MI in check, restricting them to a below-par 155.

Surya-Jacks Stand Revives MI After Early Setbacks
MI’s innings got off to a shaky start with Mohammed Siraj striking in the second ball of the match. With pressure building in the powerplay and just 56 runs on the board, it was Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks who staged a much-needed rescue act.
Their 71-run stand featured a mix of flair and precision—Surya maneuvering gaps square of the wicket, while Jacks took the aerial route, targeting the sightscreen. This was MI’s only solid partnership and the highlight of their innings.

GT Survive Death Overs Collapse to Seal Last-Over Win
GT looked in control during the chase with Shubman Gill anchoring the innings. But a rain interruption halted momentum. Post-resumption, Jasprit Bumrah produced a beauty to castle Gill, triggering a mini-collapse.
Trent Boult followed up with the wicket of Rutherford, and Bumrah’s final over was clinical—removing Shahrukh Khan and conceding just six runs. With 15 required off the final over, Rahul Tewatia kept his cool under pressure and finished the chase with calculated aggression.
Deepak Chahar, entrusted with the final over, failed to deliver under pressure, lacking penetration and intensity, allowing GT to sneak home with three balls to spare (DLS adjusted).

What Lies Ahead
Gujarat Titans sit comfortably at the top of the table with momentum on their side. Their remaining fixtures—against DC, LSG, and CSK—present a chance to further consolidate their position before the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians, however, face a tougher path ahead. With just two matches left—against Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings—they must win both to have a shot at finishing in the top two. Their margin for error is now razor-thin, and consistency will be key if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

Brilliant win from GT. Too many no balls from Mumbai hurt them badly. Also Deepak Chahar bowling the last over wasn’t ideal for them.

What a match! Heart-Stopping roller coaster ride interspersed with several rain-stoppages. Mumbai fought back brilliantly from a losing position, only to lose it from a winning position. Gujarat hold their nerve and deservingly move to top of the points table
