Starc, Mukesh keep things tight
Delhi Capitals are displaying an incredible brand of cricket and a lot of credit goes to their bowling department. In T20s, teams are bound to focus more on batting, but the Capitals have managed to create a balance between both aspects of the game. Mitchell Starc and Mukesh Kumar were the team’s chief executors against LSG. While the former was economical, the latter walked off with the highest wicket on the night.
Starc bowled four overs with an economy of 6.25. In fact, in his third over, he managed to give away just one run, controlling the flow of runs in the middle overs. Mukesh Kumar, on the other hand, took four wickets in his full quota of overs.
His first victim was Abdul Samad who threw away his wicket by smashing a short one right back to the bowler. After him, it was Mitchell Marsh, who was deceived by a swinging yorker. Then, it was Ayush Badoni who made no contact with the ball while playing the sweep shot. And lastly, it was Rishabh Pant, who looked in no mood to bat.

Miller’s poor continues to hurt LSG
Being a left handed power hitter, a lot is expected from David Miller. He is a great striker of the ball who has proved his calibre time and again. But, the story has been different in IPL 2025 so far. David Miller’s IPL career strike rate is 138 and this season his well below his own standards.
David Miller in IPL 2025 so far
Matches | Runs | HS | SR | 50s/100s |
9 | 118 | 27* | 122.92 | 0/0 |
In the game against DC, when the opening pair laid a solid foundation, it was the middle order’s duty to capitalize. Nicholas Pooran departed early (9), and a lot of responsibility then fell on Miller’s shoulders. However, he struggled to clear the fence, and a lack of intent meant the team fell 20-25 runs short. Ayush Badoni, on the other hand, did try to make an impact with the bat (36 off 21), but eventually, the team was left high and dry. Miller made 14 off 15 balls.

Porel & Rahul make it cakewalk for DC
KL Rahul made a statement while chasing against his former team. With his crisp shots, he looked lethal and made the chase look easy. Not even once did it seem like he was struggling with the bat. As a result, DC won by eight wickets with 13 balls to spare.
A lot of credit for wrapping up the match early also goes to Abhishek Porel. He gave his side the needed start by smartly negotiating the powerplay. He could have been dismissed on the very first ball had it landed two or three inches closer to the fielder. But as they say, luck supports the brave—and Abhishek was the bravest on the night!
Way forward
With an all-round performance, DC will be delighted to have beaten LSG on their home turf. They will take plenty of positives from the game and will be hopeful of carrying this momentum into the upcoming matches.
LSG, on the other hand, looked off-colour despite a solid opening stand. In the second innings, none of the bowlers stepped up, which ultimately cost them the game. Some serious contemplation will be required from their camp moving forward.

Excellent captaincy by Axar tonight. Manoeuvred his resources beautifully 🫡

Axar Patel keeps improving all the time. I’ve seen him work hard to improve his batting when I was with DC. He had to compete with Jadeja. With that done, he can now bowl with the new ball, play match-winning cameos, and comes across as a calm and tactically strong…

Has the think tank drained out in the lsg dressing room! Absolute nonsense in not having a guy like pant bat more deliveries! The match was lost before he came into bat! Well played DC and brillaint bowling by Mukesh! #LSGvsDC
