IPL 2025, GT vs DC Highlights: Prasidh Krishna’s 4-wicket haul and Jos Buttler’s 97 help Gujarat defeat Delhi and dethrone them from the top spot.

Prasidh Krishna’s four wicket haul sets the right tone for Gujarat Titans. In the second innings, Job Butler and Sherfane Rutherford spoil DC’s party as the latter lose their first match in IPL 2025. A flamboyant knock by the duo made chase look easy as they finished the match with four balls to spare.
Highlights from DC vs GT game, IPL 2025
Stubbs-Ashutosh late surge gave Delhi a total to defend
None of the DC batters managed to hit a fifty today, but small cameos every now and then helped them in climbing beyond 200. When Axar Patel was dismissed, it was Ashutosh Sharma, along with Tristan Stubbs, who took the charge by cashing every loose ball. It was their contributions in the middle overs that helped their side reach a defendable total. The plan of keeping the Net Run Rate intact, was quite clear in their minds. Even when Prasidh Krishna took two successive wickets in two balls in the 18th over, it was Ashutosh who still managed to hit him a couple of sixes to finish the over well.

Prasidh Krishna’s 4-41 pulled things back for GT
On a rare evening, when pacers were dominating the game, at least for the first half, it was Prasidh Krishna, who led his team’s bowling attack from the front. He took four crucial wickets, two coming from short balls, one from length ball and one from yorker.
What impressed the most was his effectiveness both with the old ball and new ball. With the new ball, he was making the batsman dance to his tunes and with the old ball, he was able to control the Net Run Rate, thus he was a complete package in today’s game against DC.
A screamer out of nowhere 🔥

Jos Butler’s counterattack make it a cakewalk
Chasing 200 plus scores always brings pressure in the batter’s mind, but not if you have Jos Butler in your team. Not even once, the experienced wicket keeper batsman from England faced any trouble while hitting the ball. Despite having muscle cramps, he was operating at a strike rate of 179.63. Initially, he was seen hitting those perfect cover drives. But later, he never missed an opportunity to free his arms.
Jos Buttler took 20 runs off Mitchell Starc’s over, who had been DC’s hero in the previous game. Buttler finished with 97 off 54, while Rahul Tewatia capped the innings with a six and a four.

Way forward
DC lost their first match of the season. Their bowling was quite ineffective today and that cost the game. Hence to maintain their spot in top four, the team needs to find better ways of bowling on flat decks.
GT on the other hand, will be delighted with their all round show today. Their main man- Jos Butler, drove from the front seat and hence they earned two crucial points today.

Buttler makes a meal of Starc who only the other night was Delhi’s hero in the Super Over thriller against Rajasthan. Sport can be cruel!

Ashutosh Sharma isn’t shying away from taking on the best—played a lap shot to Jasprit Bumrah, and today he’s going after Prasidh Krishna, who’s been the best bowler so far, with some outrageous shots.
