Star finisher Ashutosh Sharma smashed 66 off 31 balls as DC recovered from 65/5 to win by one wicket. Pooran-Marsh carnage powers LSG

Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh set things up nicely for Lucknow Super Giants with some monster hits. Marsh didn’t quite live up to expectations with the Delhi Capitals, struggling to showcase his usual aggressive approach. Known for attacking from the very start, Marsh found it difficult to find that rhythm during his time with the previous franchise. However, his strong start with the new franchise has added stability to a relatively weak batting lineup, making him a key player for LSG. If he continues this form, Marsh could be the catalyst for Lucknow’s success this season.

Nicholas Pooran’s remarkable batting performance was another highlight for LSG. Typically batting at No. 4 or 5 in the presence of KL Rahul, Pooran stepped up to bat at No. 3 and made the most of the opportunity with a brilliant display of batting. Pooran has been playing T20 cricket globally over the past year. His consistent success across various franchise leagues has undoubtedly contributed to his stellar form. Pooran’s global experience in playing year-round cricket has also greatly contributed to his rise.

Kuldeep Yadav picks 2/20 to spin Delhi back into control

Kuldeep Yadav‘s bowling display was the only positive for the Delhi Capitals. It’s not easy to bowl when big hitters like Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran were in their best form and smashed the bowlers all around. However, Kuldeep showed his class by taking crucial wickets under tough conditions. The surface in Visakhapatnam is known to be tricky, with the ball coming off quickly, so for Kuldeep to deliver in such a situation speaks volumes about his skill and composure. His contribution was definitely one of the highlights for Delhi Capitals.

Most expensive IPL player Rishabh Pant departs for a duck

Rishabh Pant, who was sold for a hefty price tag of 27 crores, came into the season with a lot of expectations. His ability to turn games on their head is well known, but witnessing him playing against his former team and not replicate his usual play was quite baffling. Sent in at number four to anchor the middle overs, he was expected to help the team reach a big total, possibly 230-240. However, getting out for a duck off just six balls was a major setback. The team was at 161 when he got out, and with his abilities, they could have pushed for a much higher score. Considering his high price tag and the fact that he was playing against his old team, he certainly could have done better.

Lucknow Super Giants lacks experience in bowling unit

Lucknow Super Giants has brought in a lot of fresh faces in their bowling unit this season. Their bowlers lack international and even domestic experience which is a major concern for the team. Even after posting a competitive total of 209, LSG’s bowlers couldn’t defend it, which highlights a major issue – bowling under pressure.

Conclusion

Delhi Capitals’ chase seemed to have been over even before it started but their middle order consisting of Tristan Stubbs, Vipraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma gave them hope. Ashutosh held his nerve in the final overs. His match-winning performance ensured DC crossed the finish line in a last-over thriller. Going forward, DC will expect their batters to maintain this form and keep delivering strong performances.
