Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pulled off a thrilling 14-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2025 clash, thanks to a stunning turnaround led by Sunil Narine. Chasing 205, DC looked firmly in control with Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel well set at the crease. But Narine turned the tide with a game-changing spell, claiming three crucial wickets and swinging the momentum firmly in KKR’s favour.

Smart powerplay batting, Raghuvanshi push KKR beyond 200
Kolkata Knight Riders delivered a dominant powerplay performance, with their aggressive start setting the tone and giving them early control of the match. Ajinkya Rahane carried forward the explosive start provided by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, helping KKR maintain a blistering run rate of over 13 an over throughout the powerplay.

Earlier, Gurbaz and Sunil Narine had laid the foundation with a fiery 48-run stand in the first 18 deliveries. Kolkata ended the powerplay with an imposing 79 runs on the board, thanks to impactful contributions from several players in the top order. 

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s 32-ball 44 was the highest individual total from the KKR camp. He carried the powerplay momentum forward, maintaining the tempo, which ultimately helped the team reach a total of 204.

Nigam and Starc pull things back at death
Vipraj Nigam and Mitchell Starc delivered a brilliant death-over performance to pull things back for Delhi Capitals. In the final five overs, they gave away just 45 runs and claimed 5 crucial wickets, a significant effort on a ground with small boundaries. 

Nigam, though he had already contributed earlier, returned for two tight overs and dismissed the dangerous Rinku Singh. Starc sealed the deal in the final over, removing Andre Russell and finishing with three wickets. 

Their combined effort halted the momentum. Given the situation, Delhi could have easily leaked 60+ runs, but this disciplined finish kept them in control.

⁠Narine’s 3 wickets in 7 balls 
Just when Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel were going strong, striking freely and keeping the run rate in control, Sunil Narine turned the game on its head. DC went from comfortably cruising in the chase to gasping for breath, after Narine’s two devastating overs in the 14th and 16th. Despite being hit for a six, he bounced back brilliantly—dismissing Axar and Faf in quick succession. That double blow completely shifted the momentum. He also ran KL Rahul out and chipped in with the bat, making it a complete all-round performance. Narine’s spell was undoubtedly the turning point and the highlight of the match.

Conclusion 
Kolkata Knight Riders now have nine points from 10 games, keeping their playoff hopes alive with a crucial win. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals missed a golden chance to go top of the table. They remain comfortably placed but with every defeat, especially three at home in their last four matches, a top-two finish seems increasingly out of reach. The result tightens the race among the top teams.
