IPL 2025, CSK vs RR, Highlights: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson, and Yudhvir Singh star as Rajasthan Royals outclass Chennai Super Kings.

Brief scores: CSK: 187/8 (Ayush Mhatre 43, Akash Mashwal 3/29, Yudhvir Singh 3/47) lost to RR: 188/4 (Vaibhav Suryavanshi 57, Ravichandran Ashwin 2/27) by 6 wickets
In the 62nd match of IPL 2025 which had no potential effect on the points table, Rajasthan Royals (RR) managed to pull a victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the credit goes to the former’s batting order as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sanju Samson sailed their team to the finish line.
Highlights from CSK vs RR, IPL 2025
Yudhvir Singh’s initial spell put CSK on back foot
On a pitch where batters usually dominate, Yudhvir Singh wrote a different script as he was right on the money with the ball in the powerplay. In his initial spell, he took three crucial wickets and gave away 35 runs. His mantra of not experimenting with the new ball did the trick for RR.
In his first over, he took two wickets, one of Devon Conway and the other of Urvil Patel. Both were dismissed in similar fashion as none of them managed to chip the ball beyond the 30 yard circle. Lastly, it was Ravindra Jadeja who fell in the trap as he was the third prey of the night.
Overall, Yudhvir Singh was effective as his plans were clear and the execution was spot on. Hence, it is safe to say that with his initial spell, he helped RR restrict CSK to a below par score.

Mhatre, Brevis show intent
When other batters were struggling to score runs, Ayush Mhatre made sure his intent wasn’t affected from the other end. With a bulky strike rate of 215.00, he scored 43 off 20 balls.
Mhatre was clinical because he was picking the length early and that helped him middle those short arm jabs perfectly. In the fourth over, when Yudhvir Singh was bowling some swinging deliveries, he along with Ravichandran Ashwin, managed to score 24 runs.
After his quick fireworks, it was Dewald Brevis who took the baton and carried the same tempo, by scoring 42 off 25 balls, providing hope in the middle overs. His powerful strokes against spinners was a treat to every spectator in the stadium.
These two players carried all the responsibilities on their shoulders as none of the other batters stepped up. MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube made slight efforts but their strike rates weren’t pleasing, considering how they could’ve used the batting-friendly conditions at Kotla. Maybe a better effort from their side could’ve helped CSK cross the 200-run mark.

Suryavanshi-Samson’s 98-run stand lead RR’s way
Chasing a below par total of 188 wasn’t an uphill task for the RR batters as they finished the match with 17 balls to spare. Credit for this smooth run chase goes to Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Samson as they both stitched a decent partnership.
The former scored 57 off 33 balls and the latter smashed 41 off 31 balls. Both of them looked in control and a mature show was displayed by the two. No rough or unwanted experiments were done by them and that was the essence of the second innings. Throughout their batting, they regulated singles and doubles and if anything loose came their way, they made sure it was well dispatched! 10/10 for their anchor and acceleration tonight.
Way forward
Tonight’s match will not tremble the points table as both the teams are already out of the playoff race. However, they can take the positives from their game and work on their shortcomings, to bounce back stronger in the 2026 edition!
