Among all the T20I partnerships with a minimum of 1000 runs, New Zealand’s Tim Seifert and Finn Allen have the best run rate. They have managed 1015 runs in 24 innings at a run rate of 10.95. Among the Test playing nations, England’s Jos Buttler and Phillip Salt come in the second position with a run rate of 10.41.

In the history of Men’s T20 World Cups, Allen and Seifert have recorded the best aggressive partnership among those who have collected at least 300 runs in a season. They carry a run rate of 10.98 for their 463 runs in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. In the previous season, Buttler and Salt clubbed 312 runs together for a run rate of 9.95.

Now, they stand as the pillar of New Zealand’s success in the ongoing event. Ahead of the final on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India need a strong plan to counter their opening stand.

Finn Allen & Tim Seifert stand as NZ’s most aggressive T20I pair
Allen and Seifert have collected a total of 1015 runs in 24 innings in T20Is. They have got these runs at a run rate of 10.95. That tops the table as the most aggressive partnership in the shortest format for the Blackcaps, comfortably keeping distance from second-placed stand between Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips. Their run rate of 9.69 has a massive distance from the top position.

India need ruthless and clear planning to tackle Seifert-Allen duo
Allen has a strong record against most bowlers in the ongoing T20 WC. The 26-year-old has a dominating record of unbeaten 51 T20I runs in just 31 balls against the left-arm spinners in this event. Additionally, the left-arm pacers have also been on red alert against Allen in the campaign. The Auckland-born has smashed 78 T20I runs in 33 balls at a strike rate of 236.40.

However, New Zealand’s opener has struggled a little against Hardik Pandya, who has dismissed the batter once in T20Is after conceding 32 runs in 24 balls. Allen only played the fifth T20I of the recent series against India and smashed 80 off 38 balls in that clash in Thiruvananthapuram.

In both Super Eight clashes against England and Sri Lanka, he fell to the spin trap. Against all spinners, the right-handed batter has an average of only 21, with three dismissals out of six innings in this event.

The only issue for the in-form batter in this event has been against those deliveries that have held up on the surface. He was early to close the bat face against Maheesh Theekshana, who grabbed a fine return catch off the leading edge. Even against Canada, Allen was early to the flick shot against the slower delivery.

Similarly, Seifert has a comparatively weak record against the spinners in the T20 WC 2026 at an average of 28, getting dismissed three out of six times. He has faced Varun Chakravarthy for two balls in T20Is and has already been dismissed once. That could push Suryakumar Yadav to bring the leg spinner early into the attack.

The 31-year-old has also found it difficult to attack Axar Patel, managing just 10 runs off as many deliveries. However, Jasprit Bumrah has had the better of Seifert in T20Is, dismissing him twice while conceding only 37 runs in 31 balls. England’s Jofra Archer has previously troubled the batter with a combination of short balls and inswinging deliveries. Bumrah could adopt a similar strategy to keep him under pressure.

Seifert has an incredible record of being New Zealand’s second leading T20I run-getter against India. He has 425 runs in just 15 innings against this opposition at a strike rate of 148.60 with four fifties. Meanwhile, Allen has struggled for his 132 runs at 22 in six innings against the Blue Brigade.

Whatever be the case, India can’t afford to let the Kiwis get a strong start with the bat. It would be their fourth final of the T20 WCs, having won two of the last three. They have never beaten the Blackcaps in this tournament’s history. But there is a chance to write and repeat history by claiming their third title. And the first step will be to send both in-form openers early to the pavilion.
