Who is Aaron George? Meet the India U-19 batter turning heads with consistent runs in the Youth Asia Cup 2025.

Aaron George is grabbing limelight in the 2025 Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai. In the two matches so far, he has scored 69 against UAE and 85 against Pakistan. It was during his knock of 85 that fans saw Aaron’s brilliance as a top-order batter as India posted a winning total of 240 against Pakistan.
During the twin fifties, Aaron, who was born in Kerala, but plays for Hyderabad, drew comparison with Kerala batter Sanju Samson in terms of his batting style. Like Samson, Aaron relies on timing, footwork, and good hand-eye coordination.
For instance, the uppish drive over the bowler’s head for a four in the game against Pakistan had class written over it. The follow-through reminded fans of Samson who likes to hold his pose as well when unleashing those perfectly-timed strokes.

Aaron George is all about consistency
At just 19, Aaron already has made the selectors take note of his talent, and most importantly, his consistency. In the last two Vinoo Mankad Trophy editions, Aaron scored 341 and 373 runs. But much before that, he had struck 303 not out against Bihar in the 2022-23 Vijay Merchant trophy.
But it is not just his bat doing all the talking but also his captaincy. Aaron led Hyderabad to the 2025-26 Vinoo Mankad Trophy triumph. It was just the third domestic trophy Hyderabad won after their second Ranji Trophy triumph in 1986-87.
Aaron told a media house, “I enjoy the challenge of captaincy, but I think 70% of it is common sense when it comes to captaining a side well. All the answers are in front of you. You just need to look and understand what’s going on, and use your resources well.”
Aaron looks up to ABD
The Hyderabad batter also loves to play other sports such as table tennis and basketball. He idolises former South Africa batter AB de Villiers. “His range, ability to hit any ball anywhere, that is the ultimate skill. Having more than two responses for a particular ball, that is what takes you higher. I really like his composure on the field,” Aaron said about his liking for ABD.

Young beginnings
Aaron’s tryst with cricket dates back to his younger days when his father Easo gifted him a plastic cricket bat on his birthday, and kept throwing balls at him. “And it just became a habit for me and dad,” Aaron recollected.
His parents played an important role in Aaron’s development as a cricketer. His father Easo, who played league cricket, changed careers from police to a corporate job to help Aaron focus on his cricketing career. On the other hand, Aaron’s mother Preeti – a post-graduate in mathematics – helped Aaron in his academics.
Way ahead for Aaron
Now, Aaron would let his bat do all the talking as the business end of the Asia Cup nears. Besides, considering his consistency, franchises may go for a bidding war for the young man in the upcoming 2026 Indian Premier League mini-auctions.

So good to see Hyderabad cricket in the news for the right reasons. Two excellent wins in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and a matchwinning 85 from Aaron George for India U19 vs Pakistan U19.
