Team India’s terrible defeat against England by 10 wickets during the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal in Adelaide changed their views of the shortest format. Since then, they have faced only 10 defeats in 56 fixtures, along with 42 victories. Under Rohit Sharma, they cracked the winning formula and won the title in 2024 to end the 17-year-long wait.

One of the biggest reasons for this progress is the middle overs (7-15) bowling. Most teams accelerate a lot in the nine-over period. That poses a challenge to the bowling side to hold the runs and keep taking regular wickets. The spinners contribute the most, along with some change of pace from the fast bowlers.
