IPL 2025, LSG vs GT, Highlights: Bishnoi’s speed-breaker scalps, Pooran’s 61 headline LSG win

IPL 2025, LSG vs GT Highlights: Ravi Bishnoi’s double strike and Nicholas Pooran’s quickfire 61 power LSG to third place, while Gujarat slip to second on the points table.

Brief scores: GT-180/6 (Shubhman Gill 60, Sai Sudharsan 56, Shardul Thakur 2/34) lost to LSG-186/4 (Nicholas Pooran 61, Aiden Markram 58, Prasidh Krishna 2/26) by 6 wickets

Despite a stellar show by the opening duo of Sai Sudharsan and Shubhman Gill, Gujarat Titans (GT) lost the match by six wickets. Credit goes to Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) bowling as they absorbed the pressure well and bounced back after taking two wickets in quick succession.

Highlights from LSG vs GT game, IPL 2025

Bishnoi’s brilliance turns the tide
The 120-run opening stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan looked rock solid, as both were striking the ball well. On the other hand, LSG looked in deep trouble, unable to break the partnership no matter which bowler they introduced.

After all the thrashing, it was Ravi Bishnoi who stepped up and provided the much-needed breakthrough in the 14th over. He took the crucial wicket of GT’s leading run-scorer—Sudharsan—and that’s when the momentum shifted to their side. Had Ravi not broken the partnership, GT’s score would have comfortably soared beyond 200.

Later, when LSG were on the back foot, Bishnoi delivered another exceptional ball and dismissed Washington Sundar by hitting the timber. Sundar looked clueless as his attempt to chip the ball towards third man failed miserably.

Pooran surpasses Sudharsan in Orange cap race
Nicholas Pooran and Sai Sudharsan are the top contenders for this season’s Orange Cap so far. In the first innings, it was Sudharsan who scored a blistering fifty, and in the second, it was the Caribbean pinch-hitter, Pooran.

Just like his previous innings, Sudharsan looked compact, perfectly timing the ball. He was taking on bowlers with real grit. Since the wicket was on the slower side initially, he took his time. Later, when his eyes were set, he showed no mercy. The way he was targeting senior bowlers like Mohammed Siraj was particularly impressive.

Pooran, who is having a purple patch right now, played some amazing shots in today’s game against GT. With today’s 61, he is now leading the charts, surpassing young Sudharsan.

Nicholas Pooran’s greatest strength is his bat flow. The reason he is so successful in franchise cricket is because of his range. He perfectly uses his posterior muscles to gain momentum and—BOOM—the ball lands out of the park! In the game against GT, if Washington Sundar bowled him a short-of-good-length ball, he pulled it. If Sundar bowled a fuller ball, he slog-swept it. With such versatility, he made the bowler’s task much more difficult.

Gujarat’s middle order need awakening
GT’s opening duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided the perfect start. But it was the middle order that failed to execute, dragging the team 30–40 runs below a par score. For some time now, GT’s middle order has been an area of concern.

Against LSG, they failed to carry the momentum. In previous matches, one or two odd players were stepping up. For instance, against RR it was Shahrukh Khan with a small cameo (36 off 20), and against SRH, it was Washington Sundar (49 off 29).

But in retrospect, it has consistently been Rutherford who’s been doing the job for their franchise. In case he fails to deliver in any of the upcoming matches, there is no solid backup within the team. Hence, this could spell trouble as they proceed towards the business end of the tournament.

Way forward
LSG look in good rhythm as they are ticking almost all the boxes. Rishabh Pant needs to make sure that his team carries the same energy into all the matches they play ahead. With such all-round performances, the team can surely secure a place in the top 4.

GT, on the other hand, are over-relying on Sai Sudharsan and Mohammad Siraj. If they want to lift another title, a better show needs to come from senior players like Jos Buttler and Rashid Khan.
