Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their winning streak in IPL 2025 with a 58-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad. Following an invitation to bat first, GT posted 217 for 6 in 20 overs, thanks to Sai Sudharsan’s 82 off 53 balls. Chasing 218 runs, RR got off to a poor start but Sanju Samson’s 41 off 28 kept them going. Shimron Hetmyer scored 52 off 32 towards the end but failed to get any support from the other end as the Royals were bundled out for 159 runs.

Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan stepping up with the bat is a key positive for Gujarat Titans. Tewatia has hardly batted this season, but he showed his importance with yet another cameo. With Arshad Khan at the other end, he kept the strike for the last over. Taking advantage of the over-rate penalty, he hit Sandeep Sharma for two fours and a six. His ability to strike in the death overs has been a real asset for GT.
At the same time, Shahrukh Khan’s entry into GT squad has added a new dimension to their batting. In the 14th over, Shahrukh hit Maheesh Theekshana for a maximum and two fours in successive deliveries. He has shown great potential with his big-hitting prowess. Sai Sudharsan continues his rich vein of form
Sai Sudharsan continued his rich form and played a marvellous knock of 82 off 53 balls. He was in sublime touch, timing everything to perfection. Sudharsan hit eight boundaries and three sixes in his sensational innings. The young opener has been making quite a mark with his consistent performances at top of the order. He has been a consistent performer for GT in IPL 2025, bringing up his third fifty of the season.
Given his current form and the maturity he’s showing at such a young age, Sudharsan has quickly become one of the most valuable assets for the Titans. As his run of form continues, it’s clear that he’s not just a promising talent, but a reliable figure at the top who could play a huge role in the team’s success going forward.

Royals’ lower order continue to struggle
Rajasthan Royals have been struggling with their lower-order batting for a while. They have a few promising players in the lower order, but the lack of consistency in their performances has hurt the team’s overall balance. RR is struggling to find reliable batters beyond their top 6, especially at No. 7 and 8. They lack depth in the lower order despite the presence of Shubham Dubey.
After key top and middle order batters like Shimron Hetmyer and Sanju Samson, they lack reliable finishers towards the end. Shubham hasn’t proven himself as a strong No. 7 yet, which leaves them vulnerable in chases or when setting a target. RR need someone from the top order to stay until the end, or else they risk falling short. Until they strengthen their lower order, their batting depth will continue to be a weakness.
