IPL 2025, LSG vs PBKS, Hits & Flops: Prabhsimran Singh and the bowlers shine as Punjab Kings defeat LSG at their home. Rishabh Pant’s form and bowling combination remain a concern for Lucknow.

Brief Scores: LSG 171/7 (Nicholas Pooran 44, Ayush Badoni 41, Arshdeep Singh 3/43) lost to PBKS 177/2 (Prabhsimran Singh 69, Shreyas Iyer 52, Digvesh Rathi 2/30) by 8 wickets
Star of the night- Prabhsimran Singh, made chase look like a piece of cake. His powerful strokes right from the beginning made things hard for Rishabh Pant and Co. Although, in reply, Digvesh Rathi tried pulling his team back in the game, but due to lack of support from other bowlers, his team lost by 8 wickets at Lucknow in their third game of IPL 2025.
Hits from LSG vs PBKS game
Punjab bowled well on a tricky deck
One of the major hits in today’s match was the PBKS’ bowling, particularly, in the power play. LSG had a decent batting line up but the job done by the bowlers in the first innings was commendable. Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson started with the new ball. Along with them, it was Glenn Maxwell who bowled a clinical over in the power play. By the end of first six overs, the scoreboard read as 39/3 and the home team had their back against the wall.
Later, as the game proceeded, Marco Jansen took over the baton and delivered few tight and clinical overs. Hence, with a combined effort of all the bowlers, they restricted the opponents to a chase-able 171.
Prabhsimran’s among the runs adds more depth to Punjab’s batting
In last match that Punjab played, Priyansh Arya showed some classy strokes with the willow. But today, when he was departed cheaply, his opening partner- Prabhsimran Singh, took the centre stage and added more depth to his side’s batting line up. His knock of 69(34) comprised of nine 4s and three 6s. He was middling the ball right from the start and by the end he played some really fascinating shots like the reverse sweeps, the lofted shots, etc. His strokes had a perfect blend of power and precision.

Flops from LSG vs PBKS game
Rishabh Pant continue to have poor outings
The most expensive player of IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant, has been a disappointment for the team so far. In first three league matches, his scores reads as 0, 15 and 2. Clearly, he has not been able to get the needed start. He is giving away those bounty points to the oppositions by departing so cheaply. For instance, in today’s match between LSG and PBKS also, a fielder was mindfully placed to restrict his sweeps. But due to minor negligence, he played straight into the hands of the Chahal.
Now, being the skipper and one of the most destructive batters in the format, a lot of responsibilities lie on his shoulder. Some minor changes in his game plan can surely help him overcome this lean patch.
LSG too predictive with bowling
When Lucknow had to defend an average total of 171, they needed some X factor in their bowling department. Apart from Digvesh Rathi, no other bowler was seen deceiving. However, what stood a major drawback was that the team had no 6th bowler. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram were unutilised as Pant wasn’t in the mood to experiment. Justin Langer and the skipper, needs to find better ways to rotate their bowlers as such predictable line up can devastate their qualification chances.

Conclusion
After today’s game, Punjab grabs 2 crucial points and the woes of Lucknow continue to haunt them. Right from the beginning, it was a one sided clash as Pant’s brigade didn’t bounce back once. For future matches, they need to regroup as their plans are failing, one match after another!

They have always had the players, not always the team. But there is something different about @PunjabKingsIPL this year. My eyes will be on them.

Fantastic result for @PunjabKingsIPL the pitch looked better when Punjab was batting, probably the way they batted. @ShreyasIyer15 will become the most favourite punjabi. He is in top top form.

Withe top order except Pooran stumbling LSG hardly in the game. Pooran’s dismissal led to below par score which PBKS overhauled easily. Sheyas superb again. Prabhsimran, Arshdeep, Wadhera, Maxwell made significant cobtributions. Punjab has become team to watch out for in IPL2025!

2/2 for @PunjabKingsIPL, still early days but they're looking like the team to watch out for. When the Indian core fires, teams usually do well. Also credit to @ShreyasIyer15 such a natural leader he is, and good too see @prabhsimran01 doing well, well played 👏🏻 #LSGvPBKS pic.twitter.com/gIKqgMG5Ye
