Sunrisers Hyderabad retained three players ahead of the TATA IPL 2022 mega auction and entered the auction with INR 68 crore purse. They are known as the dark horse in the IPL tournament as they have won the IPL 2016 and reached the finals in 2018.
SRH didn't have a great season last year, as they finished last in the points table in IPL 2021. Also, they strained their relations with their captain David Warner in IPL 2021. Thus, they decided to part ways after the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their purse for quality bowlers on the first day of the TATA IPL 2022 auction. They picked five bowlers in mega-auction, out of which three were pacers and two spinners. Spinners like Shreyas Gopal and Jagadeesha Suchith can come in handy in the lower order if SRH need their services.
They also picked two more all-rounders in Abhishek Sharma and Washington Sunder in addition to Abdul Samad who had already been retained before the auction. That way Sunrisers completed the arsenal of all-rounders at their disposal after the first round of IPL auction.
Considering both bowlers and all-rounders Sunrisers have nine quality bowling options in their contingent, which will make them again a powerhouse in the bowling department like in their previous seasons.
In the batting department, they have Kane Williamson, Rahul Tripathi, Priyam Garg and explosive wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran, which can be called a powerful batting line-up. However, They may feel the need for one more experienced batter in their line-up.
They need to find a second wicket-keeping option in the next round of the auction. They would likely go for any Indian wicket-keeping option in the next round of auction to give flexibility to their team eleven, to play Indian wicket-keeper in eleven in a few games in place of Pooran.
Also, today they would like to add second choice players to their squad, as they have a balanced squad. Overall we can say Sunrisers tried to tick all the boxes the first round of IPL auction 2022.
