IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Top Performances: Shubman Gill's 101, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5/30 & 27, and Mohammad Shami's 4/20 are the top performances. GT beat SRH by 34 runs to book a place in the playoffs.
Brief Scores GT 188/9 (Gill 101, Sudharsan 47, Bhuvneshwar 5/30) beat SRH 190/8 (Klaasen 73*, Bhvneshwar 27, Mohit 4/28, Shami 4/20) by 34 runs.
Player Of The Match: Shubhman Gill (101off 58)
The hosts and the table toppers Gujarat Titans took on the underperforming Sunrisers Hyderabad who are stranded in the 9th spot and on the verge of elimination. In the end, it was a one-sided contest with GT coming out on top by 34 runs and booking a place in the playoffs.
Gujrat's Strategic Game Lead To Victory Over Hyderabad
After winning the toss Aiden Markram opted that Sunrisers Hyderabad will bowl first. Marco Jansen came back for Glenn Philllips and Sanvir Singh gets his maiden game. For GT, Sai Sudharsan finds a place in the XI, and Sri Lankan skipper makes his IPL debut.
Bowling first appeared to pay rich dividends for SRH as Bhuvneshwar removed Saha early in the piece. But the partnership of returning Sai Sudharsan and Gill would have made Markram to question his own decision. The pair scored 147 runs for the 2nd wicket and Gill was the major contributor. He brought up his 50 in 22 balls and took another 34 balls to make the next 50. SRH pulled things back later in the innings restricting GT to 188/9 with Bhuvneshwar picking 5 wickets. But GT's top order and courtesy of some ordinary SRH bowling did early enough damage in the innings.
The target proved to be too steep for SRH as they had a poor start losing 4 wickets in the power plays and then there was no coming back for them into the contest. SRH lost a heap of wickets in the middle overs with Mohit Sharma joining in the act taking 3 wickets in the first 2 overs.
Heinrich Klaasen (64) was again amongst runs and he was the only warrior fighting for SRH. He scored his 2nd half-century of the season and the only batter who gave him company was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who scored his highest IPL score of 27. They eventually fell short by 34 runs.

Talking Points; The Downfall Of SRH Batting
Talking points have to be SRH’s batting which let them down again on what was a very good batting wicket just as Gill and Sudharsan showed. Klaasen was again one who brought some respectability to an otherwise sorry-looking SRH batting card.
Let us scan the key performances of the GT vs SRH game of IPL 2023
Shubman Gill smashes his maiden IPL ton
If it was Surya who reached his first IPL a few days back, Shubman Gill did the same here at Ahmedabad. After missing out a century a couple of games back (94* vs LSG) at the same venue, Gill made it count this time around against the Sunrisers.
Losing Saha early, Gill took ownership of scoring quick runs in his record 147-run stand with Sai Sudharsan for the 2nd wicket as he smashed a 22-ball half-century. He slowed down a tad en route to his century and loss of wickets didn’t help his case either. He reached the 3-figure mark in 56 balls continuing his spectacular run of form this season, where he is currently the 2nd highest run-getter.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar takes a 5-fer to restrict GT below 200
Bhuvi showed why he is still a wily customer with the ball in white-ball cricket with a splendid performance against the table-toppers. GT are among the strongest batting units and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was right away on target dismissing the in-form Saha in the first over and then coming into the attack in the 16th over to see the back of Hardik Pandya.
This reduced the flow of runs as GT made only 41 in the last six overs and Bhuvneshwar reaped rewards for some good bowling taking 3 wickets in the final over to take his tally to 5/30. Later in the night, it was his useful 27 and a 68-run stand for the 8th wicket with Klaasen taking SRH over 150.
Mohammad Shami was the wrecker-in-chief for SRH
Chasing 190 would not be easy for this inconsistent SRH batting unit and the spell of Mohammed Shami meant it was almost out of reach for the men in orange. Shami picked a wicket in each of his first 3 overs inside the power plays including that of Markram, and Tripathi. This reduced SRH to 45/4 in the first 6 overs and there was no coming back for them into the contest after that.
He returned later in the spell to thwart Klaasen’s threat finishing with a four-fer at Ahmedabad.
What's next and points table scenario
Two teams will have a contrasting future in this IPL post this result. On the one hand, GT solidified their top position with yet another win, while SRH became the 2nd side to be eliminated from the competition.
