IPL 2022 Mega-Auction: Top 5 Uncapped Players likely to go for big prices in bidding war

The Indian uncapped players will be watched out for in the upcoming event of the bidding war. The mega-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is scheduled for February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. The objective of IPL is to be a place where talent meets opportunity. We all know that India is a cricket-loving nation with no limit of talent.

The young guns of India have come a long way to get this recognition. The IPL has been a platform for the younger stars who are groomed under some of the legends in the cricketing arena and they can also upskill themselves for the future where they might play for the country one day.

IPL is a fantastic opportunity for the young generation to showcase their talent and worth. The young guns of India who have not played any international matches have a chance to deliver and catch the eyes of millions of people, BCCI and the selectors. For some players, an IPL contract has been a life-changing one also.

Several cricketers had faced torrid times before making their debuts in IPL. These cricket players struggled to meet even the basic necessities. But due to their hard work and quality talent, they got a contract in IPL and their lives changed dramatically after that.

The following five uncapped players from India can cause a bidding war in this year’s mega-auction of the Indian Premier League. These 5 players did well in IPL 2021 for their respective franchises.

Avesh Khan (Base Price INR 20 Lakh)

The Delhi Capitals (DC) might look to retain Avesh Khan in their team for this season. Avesh has been named in the Indian team recently which will play two limited-overs series against West Indies, starting on February 6. The last IPL season was a fruitful one for the pace bowler from Madhya Pradesh. He picked up 24 wickets in just 16 innings with an economy rate of 7.37.

The tall fast bowler hits the right length and generates some extra bounce from the surface. Avesh Khan has always been in the eyes of the selectors and he was very close to making his international debut against New Zealand in the T20I series that India played at home after a disappointing World T20 2021.

  • Avesh Khan was the highest wicket-taker for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. He had taken 35 wickets in just seven matches.

  • Khan was the highest wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals and second overall in the last season of IPL. He took 24 wickets in just 16 innings.

  • He was even named in the reserves for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2019-21 Final and the Test series against England.

Kartik Tyagi (Base Price INR 20 Lakh)

Rajasthan Royals (RR) speedster was released by the said franchise after IPL 2021. Kartik Tyagi gave some promising performances in the last two years in his stint with RR. Several experts also reckon that Kartik will do wonders if he is offered more opportunities. In the mega-auction, Kartik is the uncapped player to watch out for.

The seam bowler did well in the Under-19 World Cup in 2020. Kartik shined with his sheer pace, bounce, seam movement and hostility despite getting limited chances with Rajasthan Royals. In 14 matches since 2020, Kartik has picked up 13 wickets. His best performance was when he defended just four runs against Punjab Kings in the last over in a league game of IPL 2021.

  • Tyagi can be the death-over specialist in the shortest form of cricket. He successfully defended four runs for RR from the last six balls against Punjab Kings in IPL 2021.

  • He was included as net bowler for India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21.

KS Bharat (Base Price INR 20 Lakh)

The wicketkeeper-batter from Andhra Pradesh played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2021. In Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22, KS Bharat was 10th in the list of highest run-scorers and also slammed two centuries. He scored 370 runs in 5 matches and his centuries came against Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

KS Bharat is a good middle-order player and the teams that want to strengthen their middle-order can add him to their team. According to some sources, KS will get more than his base price. There also might be the possibility of RCB retaining him because they will also need a quality player in the middle-order after the retirement of AB de Villiers.

  • KS Bharat is the first wicketkeeper-batter to score a triple hundred in Ranji Trophy. He achieved this feat in 2015.

  • In the last IPL season, KS gained a lot of popularity after hitting a six on the last ball against Delhi Capitals.

  • He took two catches and effected one stumping in a Test match against New Zealand.

Abhishek Sharma (Base Price INR 20 Lakh)

The youngster has the skills to succeed in any format and he was said to be the player to watch out for in IPL 2021. But he hasn't been consistent in the chances he got. He can be a great asset for the teams because of his all-around skills. Abhishek Sharma has to deliver in IPL 2022, maybe for a new franchise.

In the last IPL season, he scored just 98 runs and took four wickets. The franchises can look at him as an all-rounder. He will improve gradually as a player with more opportunities at this level. Despite looking off-colour in IPL 2021, Abhishek Sharma can set the mega-auction on fire in the uncapped players’ list in IPL 2022.

IPL 2022 Mega-Auction: Top 5 Uncapped Players likely to go for big prices in bidding war. Shahrukh Khan has raised his base price from INR 20 Lakh to 40 Lakh ahead of Auction (BCCI/IPL)

Shahrukh Khan (Base Price INR 40 Lakh)

The all-rounder from Tamil Nadu did a decent job with Punjab Kings (PKBS) in the last season. Shahrukh Khan can be looked at as a batting all-rounder and a finisher. He can hit huge sixes with ease. Khan can also bowl fours overs in the middle phase of an innings. In all, Shahrukh Khan is a complete package and that's why he can go for a substantial price in this mega-auction.

In the home series against the West Indies, Khan has been named as a stand-by player in the T20I team of India. Shahrukh played the first half of IPL 2021. But he was dropped in the UAE leg. He made an impression with his finishing skills which were seen in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Final for Tamil Nadu against Karnataka. He is a power-hitter who can be looked at in this mega-auction.
