Talking points: Balanced bowling attack for India
India looks like a well-rounded bowling unit. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was at his lethal best, while Mayank Yadav was accurate and fast. The spin department, comprised of Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar, also did their job of picking up wickets constantly and not letting the game drift. India looked like a decent all-round bowling unit with Hardik Pandya fit and bowling well.
Bangladesh bowled out for 127
Put into bat, Bangladesh lost their opener, Litton Das, in the first over. Litton top-edged a shot to give Rinku Singh an easy catch at short cover off Arshdeep Singh’s bowling. Arshdeep then got the other opener, Parvez Hossain Emon, bowled in his second over to leave Bangladesh's innings in tatters at 14/2. Mayank Yadav, who made his T2OI debut, bowled a maiden in his first international over, making Towhid Hridoy play dots to all six balls. Varun Chakravarthy, who was returning to T20Is, struck soon, getting Hridoy to hit straight to long on. Bangladesh veteran Mahmudullah threw his wicket away in an attempted attacking shot to give Mayank his first international wicket. Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz then took on himself to give the total some semblance, cracking 2 fours and 1 six off Mayank’s third over. However, wickets kept tumbling at the other end, and eventually, Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 with a ball to spare, and Miraz was stranded on 35, not out.
India batters crush Bangladesh
India played a new opening pair in Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek creamed two fours and a six off Taskin Ahmed’s first over, the second of the innings. However, after a mix-up with Samson, he fell to a run-out in the same over. Captain Suryakumar Yadav joined Samson in the middle and wasted no time unleashing his big strokes. He creamed two big sixes off his whips over mid-wicket. However, he fell while attempting another aerial shot, holing out in the square leg deep to Jaker Ali off Mustafizur Rahman. SKY slammed 14-ball 29 with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Samson fell holing out in the deep to Rishad Hossain off Miraz for 19-ball 29 with 6 fours. Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy took India home without much ado, sealing the win with 49 balls to spare. Pandya finished the innings with a flurry of fours and sixes to remain unbeaten on 16-ball 39, not out with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
